Carmarthenshire County Council hosts and maintains this website on behalf of the Public Services Board (PSB) and is the data controller for the purpose of the Data Protection Act.

This privacy notice tells you what to expect when we collect and use personal information on behalf of the PSB. It applies to information about visitors to this website.

Our obligations under the Data Protection Act

To ensure that we treat personal information correctly, we seek to adhere in full to the eight principles set out in the Data Protection Act 1998.

The Data Protection Act refers to obtaining, recording, holding and dealing with personal information as ‘processing’. Carmarthenshire County Council have notified the Information Commissioner’s Office of the types of personal information we process and the purposes for which we do so.

The Information Commissioner's Office is the body responsible for overseeing the Data Protection Act and maintains a public register which contains the name and address of Data Controllers with a description of the kind of processing they do.

How we use your information

We do not capture or retain any personal information about individuals who visit this website, except where you choose to give your personal details via the online form to apply for information and updates from the PSB.

We will only use the personal information we collect for the purpose of maintaining a mailing list for circulating information and updates from the PSB.

We will not share your personal information with any other organisation including other members of the Public Services Board.

Sharing and disclosing your information

However, there are situations where we may be required to disclose personal information without a consent of the subject, such as:

  • Where we are required to provide the information by law
  • Where the information is needed to prevent or detect a crime
  • Where disclosure is in the vital interests of the person concerned

How long we keep personal information

We will only keep your information for as long as you wish to receive information and updates from the PSB. You can ask us to remove your details from the mailing list at any time by contacting the PSB support team on 01267 224201.

Accessing your personal information

We try to be as open as we can be in terms of giving people access to their personal information. Individuals can find out if we hold any personal information on them by making a ‘subject access request’ under the Data Protection Act.

There may be cases where, with your agreement, we can deal with your request informally, for example by providing you with the specific information you need over the telephone.

If any information is incorrectly recorded you can ask us to amend the information.

Changes to this privacy notice

We keep our privacy notice under regular review and we will place any updates on this webpage.

Complaints or queries

We try to meet the highest standards when collecting and using personal information. For this reason, we take any complaints we receive about this very seriously. We encourage people to bring it to our attention if they think that our collection or use of information is unfair, misleading or inappropriate. We would also welcome any suggestions for improving our procedures.
